In this Order-
"by-election" (補選) and "ordinary election" (一般選舉) have the meanings assigned to them in the Electoral Provisions Ordinance (Cap 367);
"relevant date" (有關日期) means the date of the coming into operation of the Specification;
"the Specification" (指明) means the District Boards (Date of Establishment) Specification 1994 (Cap 366 sub. leg. J).

This Order was originally made under the Corrupt and Illegal Practices Ordinance (Cap 288). Though that Ordinance was repealed, this Order continues in force so far as it is not inconsistent with the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (Cap 554) and has the effect for all purposes as if made under Cap 554. (See section 48 of Cap 554)
