Flooding curves are to be developed by a method of calculation which takes due account of the form, draught, and other characteristics of the ship in question. For the present the method described in Appendix I is to be used generally and to the exclusion of independent calculations, provided, however, that where it is shown to the satisfaction of the Principal Surveyor of Ships that a ship is of such unusual form that this method is not completely accurate, an approved alternative method may be used.
