(1) Lifebuoys carried in every vessel to which these regulations apply shall comply with the requirements of Part I of Schedule 11 except in those vessels described in subregulation (2).
(2) Lifebuoys carried in ships of less than 16.8 metres in length, of Classes VIIIA, VIII(A)(T), IX, IXA, IX(A)(T) and XI, to which these regulations apply, shall comply with the requirements of either Part I or Part II of Schedule 11. The lifebuoys carried shall not be so mixed as to comprise at any one time lifebuoys complying with Part I and lifebuoys complying with Part II of the said Schedule.
(3) If a ship described in subregulation (2) complies with Part II of Schedule 11 and is one to which the provisions of regulation 19(3), or 23(4) apply, then notwithstanding any provision therein to the contrary, lifebuoys shall be carried equal in number to the total number of persons on board, but at no time less than two lifebuoys.
(4) Lifebuoys carried in every vessel to which these regulations apply shall weigh not less than 4.3 kilograms where the release of a self-igniting light depends upon the weight of the lifebuoy.
