The Director may only make an exemption order under section 9 in respect of fixed electrical installations that are used for the purpose of-

(a) generating and supplying electricity;
(b) operating railway services;
(c) operating or controlling the cars, trucks or signalling systems that are used for the traffic of a tramway;
(d) providing or maintaining public telecommunications services; (36 of 2000 s. 28)
(e) operating or maintaining tunnels that are used for road or rail traffic;
(f) operating or maintaining aerial ropeways;
(g) producing, relaying or transmitting television or radio programmes for public reception; or
(h) operating or controlling lifts or escalators as defined by section 2(1) of the Lifts and Escalators Ordinance (Cap 618). (8 of 2012 ss. 156 & 160)
