(1) Subject to subregulation (2), no person shall drive a vehicle into a box junction unless he will be immediately able to drive the vehicle wholly out of the box junction.
(2) subregulation (1) shall not apply-

        (a) to a vehicle which is being driven for any fire services, ambulance, police or customs and excise service purpose if compliance with subregulation (1) is likely to hinder the use of that vehicle for that purpose;
        (b) where a vehicle is driven into a box junction on the direction of, or with the permission of, a police officer in uniform or traffic warden in uniform; or
        (c) to a vehicle driven into a box junction marked in accordance with Figure No. 514 in Schedule 2 from a traffic lane marked with a right turn directional arrow of the type shown in Figure No. 509 in Schedule 2 to a position where the vehicle can conveniently wait to make a right turn and which is prevented from being driven out of the box junction by other stationary vehicles in or near the box junction waiting to complete a right turn, or by vehicles moving in the opposite direction.
